PENTA Selects the UMass Memorial Health Care COVID-19 Response Fund as Giving Tuesday Beneficiary

WESTBOROUGH _ In support of those on the local frontlines of the Coronavirus crisis, on May 5, 2020, PENTA Communications, Inc. selected the UMass Memorial Health Care COVID-19 Response Fund as the beneficiary of its annual Giving Tuesday donation.

Each year, PENTA, selects a well-deserving non-profit organization to champion on Giving Tuesday, a global initiative that was founded in partnership with the United Nations Foundation in 2012 to encourage people to do good deeds. To date, hundreds of millions of people have participated in this caring movement, in nearly every country across the world, with more than $1 billion dollars raised in the United States alone.

PENTA made this donation in honor of every one of its team members for their work in helping companies navigate through the coronavirus crisis.

The Giving Tuesday global network initiated #GivingTuesdayNow on May 5th “as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19,” according to its website.

On the UMass Memorial Health Care website, the organization thanked all of its donors for their contributions to their fund. “We are grateful to our donors whose support has given UMass Memorial Health Care the strength to care for our patients and to respond to the needs of our community in challenging times.”

As of April 21, over $1.5 million in gifts and pledges had been donated to this fund, designed to offset expenses incurred by the current pandemic, according to an “Everyday Innovators” blog post by Dr. Eric Dickson, President and CEO of UMass Memorial Health Care, on that same date.

“Thank you to all of our caregivers for what they are doing today, tomorrow and well past this COVID crisis. Now more than ever, I’m humbled to be the President and CEO of this incredible organization,” stated Dr. Dickson, in his most recent blog post on May 5th.
