WESTBOROUGH – Government can be a great thing when it’s working properly, Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito told a crowd of business leaders Monday evening.

She said Westborough’s government is an example of one that tends to run smoothly, and local businesses contribute to the quality of life by providing stable jobs and paying the taxes that help support quality schools and safe neighborhoods.

“Washington D.C. could even take a few pages out of our book. People really do like to see government work,” Polito said at the Westborough Economic Development Committee’s annual review and celebration at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.

She credited the Massachusetts government with transportation and road improvements that were made after a brutal winter last year dumped 114 inches of snow over the state and made it hard for many people to get to work and for businesses to operate.
