PENTA Manager receives C9 Chamber’s President’s Award

WESTBOROUGH _ Michelle Barnett, Marketing Services Manager at PENTA Communications, Inc., and Lynn Stromberg, Director of Sales and Catering at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club, were honored with the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce’s President’s Award at the May 15th Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce Ultimate Networking and Oscar Awards Breakfast, held at the DoubleTree Hotel, Westborough.  This prestigious award is given each year at the discretion of the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce’s President.

Both Barnett and Stromberg are co-chairs of the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce’s HYPE9 group, an initiative that helps to connect younger emerging business professionals (21- 40 years of age). Under their leadership, HYPE9 has blossomed into one of the most exciting and fruitful committees in the Chamber today.

“We are so pleased that Michelle and Lynn were recognized for their outstanding leadership and contributions as co-chairs of HYPE9,” said Deborah Penta, CEO of PENTA Communications, Inc. “Michelle demonstrates exemplary leadership in her role at our firm every day, and is deeply committed to one of our core values of giving back to the community. She clearly has made a difference, bringing the Corridor Nine’s HYPE9 group to higher levels of community engagement, and we are all very proud of her work.”

As leaders of the HYPE9 group, Barnett and Stromberg ensure the group performs community volunteer projects every other month. Recently, the group volunteered at the Community Harvest Project and participated in Community Reading Day at local schools.  Also, the group led extremely successful donation drives to benefit Big Brother/Big Sisters of Central Mass/Metrowest, Inc., the YMCA of Central Massachusetts’ (Boroughs branch) summer camp activities, and Greater Worcester County Food Bank.

“It was a pleasure to present Michelle Barnett of PENTA Communications our Corridor Nine President’s Award in May, acknowledging her fine work as co-chair of the Chamber’s HYPE9 Group. This group helps young professionals become more active in their communities as they become business leaders of the future! The creative programs that Michelle helped develop resulted in a variety of good works that include:

Working on the Community Harvest Project at the Brigham Hill Community Farm, mentoring high school students, collecting food for our local food pantries, and collecting clothing and toys for local non-profit organizations. Michelle has done a great job leading HYPE9 to become a great resource for our community,” said Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce President Barbara Clifford.

Barnett has been an instrumental member of the PENTA team since 2006, and provides exemplary service to clients. She has been a member of HYPE9 since its inception and a member of the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce’s Membership Committee since 2007.
