PENTA Continues Philanthropic Efforts Beautifying Playground For Small Children

Westborough, MA – On Thursday morning, June 23rd, PENTA Communications, Inc. headquartered in Westborough, Massachusetts, breathed new life into a local playground in celebration of National Perennial Gardening Month, to benefit a local charitable organization. Several members of the PENTA community relations team joined together and visited the YWCA of Central Massachusetts Westborough Branch on Grove Street in an effort to perpetuate efforts to beautify its playground. The playground was refurbished by PENTA in the fall of 2014, as a gift to the YWCA.

Garden planters that were purchased by PENTA and filled with fresh loam by Keating Enterprises, a commercial landscaping company in Worcester, set the stage for plantings of beautiful flowers in hues of pinks, purples, blues, and whites, with the goal of brightening the playground area for all the small children who visit it each day throughout the summer months.

This beautification project began two years ago, when PENTA celebrated its 25th year in business. At that time, the regional marketing firm earmarked 25 organizations in which to make a charitable donation. Its 25th and final philanthropic gift to the community in celebration of its 25th Anniversary was an initiative to build a new playground for the Westborough YWCA where nearly 100 families bring their children for necessary childcare. PENTA made a lead donation of $2,500 and championed a two-week fundraising initiative with the result of all funds raised in May 2014, to revitalize the playground.

“We were thrilled to have the opportunity to give back to our community by helping the YWCA revitalize its playground in 2014, and are so pleased to have the privilege of continuing our efforts in beautifying the space for the children who enjoy it every day,” said Deborah Penta, Founder and CEO of PENTA Communications, Inc.

Studies show that flowers have a long-term positive effect on emotional well-being. People feel a heightened sense of enjoyment and life satisfaction after receiving flowers. In addition, the presence of plants has been found to reduce stress, increase attentiveness, concentration, and improve well-being. Having beautiful and safe playgrounds for children can help foster social and language development as well as provide crucial physical exercise and promote positive mental health.

The Westborough YWCA is an extension of the YWCA of Central Massachusetts. Part of its mission is eliminating racism and empowering women. The daycare services provided by the YWCA are in alignment with its mission of empowering women as it makes childcare affordable for women seeking to improve their lives through employment.

The YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women’s organization in the world. Across the globe, the YWCA has more than 25 million members in 122 countries, including 2.6 million members and participants in 300 local associations in the United States. Their mission is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. The organization’s daycare offers individualized education and low staff to student ratios that encourage learning, school-readiness, and provide extra-learning opportunities in a safe and nurturing environment. PENTA is proud to have supported these vital services for the families in Westborough who rely on the YWCA as their childcare provider.
